The fear…the excitement…the unknown…all intertwining in my mind.  All the boxes tucked away in the Lindemann’s basement.  It almost feels like putting life on hold.  A movie that you pause so you can take a bathroom break.

The goodbyes and hugs are all over.
The last days spent with my loved ones passed.

No more pedicures with my mother-in-law.  No more skiing with my brother and sister-in-law.  No more spending every precious minute with my loved one.

My face shaved clean just for a jungle to form again.  All is left is walking on the airplane and holding my breath for the breathtaking views, the new memories to be etched, and the friends to be met.  A new chapter is forming.  The Appalachian Trail is awaiting. Calling my name.

Journey (i) an act of traveling from one place to another; (ii) a long and often difficult process of personal change and development; (iii) an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973.  Let the journey begin with some musical whims along the way.

On February 26th I fly out to Atlanta, Georgia where my journey on the Appalachian Trail begins.  The Appalachian Trail traverses 2,186 miles through 14 states, which does not account for resupplying at nearby towns.

It is said that the average hiker takes approximately 4 to 6 months to complete the trek.  But of those who attempt, only about 30 percent complete the trail.  Join me on this adventure and future triumph.
